Change the plan but never the goal
My decisions today will define my tomorrow
I am a Gemini, I will outsource anything that requires too much attention to detail, as I am a “ big picture “ kind of creature. I see myself as a visionary and a leader rather than a planner so I need to learn planning skill. I can be impulsive and difficult and changeable so I need to change myself into a more static person. I need to find ‘me’ in order to make a space for less active chi.
In private life, I like to think of myself as the most chilled, relax and happy-go-lucky type of woman. I try not to see what others may see. However, when it comes to business I can claim to be organized to the extreme. That’s my goal and I try not to let anything get in the way. But…..
If you are starting out and don’t want to feel over-worked and a ripe subject for chaos you have to develop a strategy. A routine that will get you through the natural inconveniences of ordinary, day to day activity and fit you for the more exciting role you intend to acquire through hard work and a view of wide pastures.
MY GOALS
1. M.D.E.B.
M: My alarm goes off around 5.30. (That’s am not pm.) I like to meditate in bed to clear my brain. I shut my eyes and let my mind wander. Sometimes it wanders too far and I send love to people I shall meet and place I am planning to invade throughout the day.
D: Time for my diary, I like to write and I write a lot. I like to record any dreams I had overnight (carefully censored) and latch onto new ideas, goals, and plans. For this it helps to have a notebook handy so that you don’t spend the rest of the day wondering what you were thinking about earlier. I’m not sure if it’s just me but I do forget my passing thoughts, quotes, and tasks so a diary is fundamental. Keep the diary in a safe and constantly accessible place. Dry places are recommended.
E: By the time I have gone through my mental gymnastics it is time for something physical. Unfortunately, this usually turns out to be a run, a swim or Yoga in the park. It takes a bit of getting used to, especially the Yoga in the park, but in the end, the benefits are enormous. The necessary trivia out of the way it is time to refocus. After a while, it becomes as natural as cleaning your teeth or white-washing the dog.
B: Breakfast is the most important part of the day. A time when what you want egg, bacon, and beans on toast, must give way to what your body needs. Unfortunately, the body is not always compatible with what you want. I have a thyroid malfunction, low blood pressure and my DNA tests showed a high risk of developing diabetes in the future. With that gnawing at your vitals make your breakfast take the brunt of any inconveniences but never, ever skip breakfast. My favourite breakfast is fruit salad, porridge made with water and chia seeds, flax seeds, collagen, maca powder, brain octane oil and almond butter, just for starters. And of course, Jasmine tea. With this type of breakfast, I’m not hungry until late afternoon. As I’m writing this down, I can imagine my dad shaking his head and saying …I do not know how I survived all this time without all this crap ….
2. EVERY DAY IS AN ADVENTURE
As a PA/VA, you probably work from home or somewhere more convenient. I like coffee shops. They make me focus on my work. I look for a place full of natural light, soft music and a business like atmosphere. The cool thing about the coffee shop is that you have people that are looking after you all day long. And you never know who can walk in. It’s a lottery between the future love of your life or your biggest enemy. Either way, try to keep control – remember you are there to work.
WARNING: Before leaving your home, make sure that you are fully dressed and your hair fully quaffed. It might happen that you meet your ex-boyfriend and you want to let him know what he is missing. If your hair is in a mess hide under a moving van.
Apart from that a well thought out and appreciated motivation is a great start to the day.
3. SILENCE ISN’T EMPTY IT”S FULL OF INSPIRATION
It happens that we get stuck. We can’t focus. We can’t get inspired – so we get angry and stressed out. Keep the motor running and press your restart button. Everyone has a button, if you don’t – find one. Mine is a nice long drive. I never plan where I’m going. I drive until I find myself again. However, the last time I needed to chill I got frozen to a Police Speed Camera – costly! Anyhow, find your OM!
How do you keep yourself productive? What is your secret weapon? I would love to hear from you.
